Opportunity for a Teaching and Learning Lead Practitioner Role

To start September 2018

Thurston Community College is a thriving mixed comprehensive school in a beautiful rural setting with easy access to the A14 and rail links to Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich. The College is a strategic partner in CASSA (Cambridge and Suffolk Teaching Schools Alliance); a member of PiXL (Partners in Excellence) and offers regular and inspiring in-house CPD opportunities.

Thurston Community College boasts a strong sense of community, a supportive, caring ethos and a positive, friendly atmosphere. Staff morale is high (recognised by Ofsted in all recent inspections).  Students enjoy an exciting, dynamic learning environment where staff work collaboratively, share a common sense of purpose and are relentless in the pursuit of outcomes of the highest quality for every young person.

In our most recent Ofsted inspection the College was graded as ‘a good school which is well led and managed’. Ofsted recognised that ‘the behaviour of students is outstanding; they are mature, polite and courteous in their dealings with adults and other students and they are eager to learn.’

You will join a successful Mathematics Team, whose collaborative ethos ensures that colleagues are well supported, inspired and have outstanding opportunities to develop professionally in a friendly, positive and creative environment. Student outcomes in Mathematics are good, both at GCSE and Advanced Level, where Mathematics and Further Mathematics are popular choices.

This post provides the opportunity to become a Teaching and Learning Lead Practitioner, supporting the development of outstanding teaching and learning across the College. Specifically, you will:

  • Lead the innovative delivery of new teaching and learning methodologies;

If you relish the prospect of joining our outstanding team of dedicated staff; please complete an application form. We very much look forward to hearing from you.

The deadline for applications is noon on Friday 9 March 2018.  Interviews will take place on Tuesday 13 March 2018.
